The Domaine National de Chambord is committed to making the site accessible to all visitors. Due to its historic nature, some areas of the château have limitations, but many services are in place to assist visitors. For ticketing policies, please see our free & reduced tickets page.

Mobility Access

Accessible Areas

The following areas are accessible to visitors in wheelchairs:

    • The château courtyard and ground floor rooms (via an access ramp).
    • The French formal gardens.
    • The reception area, ticket office, gift shop, and on-site cafés.
    • Accessible toilets are available.

The upper floors of the château are not accessible by lift due to the building's historical structure.

HistoPad for All

To allow all visitors to discover the entire château, the HistoPad augmented reality tablet includes a version adapted for people with reduced mobility. It provides a virtual tour of the upper floors with 3D reconstructions and commentary.

Free Parking

Parking is free for visitors with a disability badge. Present your badge and parking ticket at the information desk.

Wheelchair Loan

A limited number of wheelchairs and seat sticks are available to borrow free of charge from the information point. ID is required as a deposit.

Free Admission

Entry to the château and gardens is free for a visitor with a disability and one companion upon presentation of valid proof.

Adapted Tours

The HistoPad offers versions with audio descriptions for the visually impaired and in French Sign Language (LSF) for the hearing impaired.

Are assistance dogs allowed?
Yes, certified assistance dogs are welcome inside the château, gardens, and all other visitor areas.
Are there elevators in the château?
No, due to the historical classification of the monument, there are no public elevators to access the upper floors. The ground floor is accessible via a ramp.
